How does one lubricate and/or gain access to the windshield wiper cables at the wiper blade mechanism? I've cleaned and lubricated the wiper cable pulleys on the firewall; have adequate vacuum; and cleaned the vacuum wiper motor which seems to function well. The problem seems to be in the wiper blade/cable assembly because they are extemely difficult to move when the cables are disconnected and I manually apply tension to the cables.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Boy this is an old post. I hope you come back to see it.. There is a 7/16 head bolt that holds the wiper tower or "transmission" into the cowl. use a 1/4" drive ratchet and socket and reach up under the dash and you will feel the head of the bolt. It goes through a "U" shaped bracket. take the bolt and bracket out and the whole mechanism can be pulled up and out from the top, You can check for binding or lack of lubrication. Reinstalling it can be a character building session.. Good Luck Dave W. Fl.
